Relaxing and magical Sunset Tour on the Tweed River!

My husband and I went on the “Picnic Afloat” Sunset tour with 8 other people. It was an experience we will remember for all the right reasons. The staff from Tweed Eco Cruises made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped on the boat and everything was very well organised. Great decor, delicious food, and perfectly chilled complimentary bubbles sitting in ice waiting for us. We were lucky with the weather as it was a sunny day with light winds so cruising along the river with music playing in the background was a delight! The colours on the river at sunset with Mt Warning in the background was magical. All our friends are still talking about the great experience they had on the cruise and can’t wait until they do another one. Such a relaxing, fun thing to do! I highly recommend it.

    This cruise will change you!
Our guide, traditional owner, Arabella Douglas, welcomes us warmly on the lawn of Fingal Head Port when we arrive close to 2pm. There are three others along for the ride (with our lot that makes ten) and she has made sure we are all introduced and included. Our rectangular river craft is fully roofed, open to the air on all sides. It’s no sleek river boat, but as soon as we step on board, we feel at home. A long white table is set for feasting, with a bar and serving area at the rear. Bench seating around two sides is decorated with woven rugs and cushions of indigenous designs (as above) and dangling from the tin ceiling is a large white macrame hanging. A little balcony out the back gives views across the waters of the Tweed to the sacred Wollumbin mountain range and the astro turf disguised bathroom is tucked away behind the driver’s wheel. Murray (call me Muzz) our driver, gives the safety spiel and we set sail at an easy chugging pace up river. Arabella offers champagne and iced tea. The iced tea beckons me. Cooling beads of condensation slide down the rounded sides of the glass dispenser — the deep burgundy elixir is a combo of native plum and native mint. Arabella fills up a round bellied glass from the tiny tap and hands it to me. She begins to talk. I drink in the delicious taste of something new, something unexpected, something so refreshing that my mind and body will be zinging with excitement for days to come. For the next three hours Arabella opens our minds to ancient wisdoms and new worlds — where there is room for everyone to co-exist in harmony and abundance in practice with the living laws of the land and her caretaker wisdom. You really must experience it for yourself. I reccomend everyone spend the afternoon on the river with Arabella. What she has to tell you will blow your mind. You won’t be the same person when you step back onto land. You will be wiser, kinder and more curious than ever before.

    A beautiful experience
Myself and my daughter took the cultural cruise with Currie Country. If you are visiting Tweed, or if you are local, please treat yourself to a Currie Country experience. Arabella’s intrinsic knowledge of the Tweed is something you won’t find anywhere else. Arabella shared with us her culture and history of the area over the course of a truly magical and relaxing afternoon. The fresh oysters and seafood caught locally that morning were on point too. 10/10 would recommend and we will be back for another cruise!
