Tiger Bay Wetlands, New South Wales, Australia

Delightful

I'm not sure what is more delightful: the wetlands themselves or the fact they were set up by the local council and in 2011, were doubled in size! This is a thoughtful piece of environmental conservation that should be rewarded by tourist attendance. The walks go beside a large lagoon with stranded, former eucalypts standing sentinel and offering homes, hiding places and observation posts. They also include a few small water spaces with hides placed appropriately. We easily completed the walk in an hour with lots of stops to observe birds and numerous examples of canoe trees. A really lovely spot deserving of more patronage.

    Wonderful place to enjoy nature.
Extremely well done, a great place to walk and learn the value of wetlands. This has been extremely well done and it's worth staying in warren just to visit the wetlands. Do yourself a favour and add it to your bucket list

A taste of the Macquarie Marshes wetland
Located near the Window on the Wetlands Centre, this is a pleasant walking track around a wetland recently created and home to bird life and aboriginal historic markings. We enjoyed the track and observed several birds along the way. It was also fascinating to see the old trees that aborigines had used to harvest bark in the construction of canoes. They were careful not to permanently damage the trees. A really interesting site to spend an hour or two.
