Great Place to Stay
We had been in town at a caravan park to catch up with power, washing etc and the lady at the information centre told us we could stay out at Lake Wyangan for 3 nights. The toilets are spotless with water, soap and paper towel and the views over the lake are lovely. We dropped our van off at the lake in the morning and went out bush walking to Cocopurra National Park. We also were able to drive around town and go to the supermarket without the hassle of towing the van. Lovely quiet spot with only a few other travellers.

Drenched in sunlight
Ten minutes drive out of Griffith is Lake Wyangan. The lake was formed in 1957 using the remains of a gypsum mine and a natural swamp area. What you will see before you now will not even hint at its past ... the vibrant blue waters stretched out before you are stunning. There are picnic areas, BBQ facilities, free camping, a boat ramp and jetty at this lake. It's exceptionally picturesque. I poured my dreams into a lake And watched them slowly dissipate Those tender drops dissolved in waves Rolling through the thoughts I’ve saved Drenched in sunlight, dancing there Those dreams evolved into a mist Lifting up, it kissed the sky Spinning rainbows in my eyes Butterflies in brilliant light What a sight as dreams take flight Whatever comes, whatever goes The ripples in the lake still flow ...By Richard Milton Grahn

A hard to find Gem
A beautiful park, camping and picnic area with a peaceful view of bird life. There are deer, chicken and goat enclosures and lots of amenities including toilets, barbecue and picnic shelters. It would be a great place to bring large or small groups of family or friends. Some shelters appear to be able to be pre booked to make it easier to organize large groups. A well maintained public park, the only criticism is they could use better signage as we spent an hour trying to find it and our satnav even took us to the wrong place.
