Do the walking tour!

If you’re going to visit Lake Mungo make sure you do the Walls of China Walking Tour run by the Traditional Owners. It was by far the highlight out our visit. Our guide Tanya was fantastic, and with her expertise we were able to understand and see up close this amazing place. Without the walking tour I think we would have found lake Mungo underwhelming. The tour can be booked on the National Park website.

Wonderful National Park of Historic Importance
This is of course where the famous Mungoman and Mungowoman come from. It is a great outback destination with access by generally good gravel roads (except when wet). The historic Wool shed is very interesting as is the visitors centre. There is good camping available for those that are self-contained. In addition there is a resort on the edge of the National Park with good accommodation and dining.

    A Pleasant Surprise
This is the home of Mungo Man And Mungo Woman who are Australia’s oldest aboriginal skeletons. There is a great circular self drive around the park which is . You can even walk on the Walls of China a massive sandhill miles from the sea. Good Visitors Centre so allow a day to enjoy this special place.
