Beautiful lake in the outback

We were lucky enough to visit when the lake was full. Lovely free camps with plenty of shade not too far off the main road. The road in is unsealed. Was wonderful kayaking around the beautiful flooded gums. You do have to be careful swimming as the water is not clear. This lake is way more attractive than the larger lake Menindee

    An amazing sight
    Didn't know what to expect but was really surprised. I drove out from Broken Hill for the day and was surprised at the expanse of the Lake and other lakes surrounding it. It was a beautiful setting with the hot sun bearing down and me standing under a tree in the shade. Really glad I can now say I've seen Menindee Lake. Plenty of what birdlife as well.

    Amazing natural experience
    A magical natural experience. Approximately 1 hour drive from the regional centre of Broken Hill the Menindee Lakes are an amazing experience. Situated in the Kinchega National Park the lakes are an immense stretch of water when full. At the time of my visit the lakes were at approximately 125% of normal capacity following healthy rainfall both locally as well as in the western parts of Queensland which drains to the lakes over time. The surrounding land in the park has an abundance of wildlife including many kangaroos and emus There are areas to cater to all tastes from camping grounds scattered through the National Park as well as caravan sites at the nearby Copi Hollow another part of the lakes system. A mecca for bird watchers at the right times of year. Nearby town of Menindee has shops cafes and grocery stores
