Kept us interested and engaged for a good couple of hours
At the start of the visit you get a phone connected to a pair of headphones which relates stories and experiences from the inmates of the barracks as you move around the building. This all happens automatically as long as you stand in the right place. The result is a very engaging living history tour, which really connects you to the people that lived there. As it was lashing it down with rain during our time in Sydney, we bought a ticket that also enabled us to visit several other museums - this turned out to be very good value for money.

One of Australia's most significant buildings
Hyde Park Barracks is one of the most significant colonial era buildings in Australia. From 1819 to 1848, more than 60,000 convicts passed through it. Convicts mainly came from England, Ireland, Scotand and Wales. Visitors can take an audio tour and gain an insight into life in colonial Australia.
