A definite MUST DO
This is an amazing museum. There is so much to see. The lady taking money for entry told us how our ticket entitled us to re enter if we needed a break. We didn't give it any thought but seriously. There IS so much to take in and enjoy you could take a half time break and go to a coffee shop for a relax and attack again. The clothing section is worth a look. The carts and buggy are so well preserved. This place is definitely worth a visit. A HUGE congratulations to the dedicated volunteers who care for and run it. One of the best Historical museums we have seen 10 out of 10 from us

Fantastic. Wonderful, diverse displays.
Outstanding Local Museum. Huge, clean, tidy and easy to navigate tho it does cover a large area. An Open Day Ticket - visitors can leave for Lunch or whatever and return on the same day. This is a very good idea. We spent hours there in the morning then went and saw more of amazing Gulgong and returned in the afternoon and focused on specific areas. There is a lot to see. The Rocks and Fossils display is exceptional. This is not the usual dusty, musty museum of locally donated, stuff. It has been carefully curated and meticulously displayed. The Staff are pleasant and knowledgeable. A credit to fantastic Gulgong.

Overwhelmingly excellent
What an amazing place!! We arrived half an hour before closing and thought "we'll get through here before they close" but we were very wrong. We had to come back the following day to finish covering the whole museum, and even then we only stopped because we were hungry. Tip: take a packed lunch because to do it justice, you really need to allocate a good chunk of time. Yes, it's a pioneer museum, but it's not just about the pioneers who first called this area home, but also about pioneering endeavours in countless other areas. I gave up trying to take photos as there was just too much to cover - much better to see for yourself. Highly recommended, and better when you have someone with you to bounce all your "oohs and ahhs" off.
