    Star-gazing from Dubbo
I visited in summer and did the Premium Tour. I love learning about space, science and astronomy so I found tons of worth in it. Peter is very knowledgable and will point out (literally! He has an awesome laser pointer!) stars and nebulas and galaxies. He has an array of telescopes. He's also very patient and explains things well so any (dumb) questions you have about space he'll answer them. The Premium tour only accommodates 6 people and that was good because everyone had time to look through each telescope and have their questions answered well. Also, if you have a DSL camera, or a SD memory card, take that along so that Peter can kindly take a live photo of things in the sky for you using the large observatory telescope. If you go in summer, like I did, I strongly recommend you bring insect repellent! Also, it's a late night to ensure you get enough rest before or after your visit.

    Literally Out Of This World!
Wow! Left the place feeling amazed and very insignificant ;) We booked the Astro Exclusive tour and it was well worth it! There was only the 2 of us and Peter Starr (yes that's his real name) :) After a short drive out to the observatory you are located in an area that is well out of the lights of the city of Dubbo and that allows a perfect view of the night sky when it's a clear night, which we were fortunate enough to have. We commenced with a informative video presentation and explanation of astronomy, planets, suns, galaxies, nebulas and much more.. Outside we were shown how to view different constellations with binoculars and then viewed the same with the telescopes outside and then inside the dome with the mega scope! We were amazed at how much you can actually see with the binoculars and will definately keep star gazing at home like this. The highlight of the night was when Peter attached Canon D6 to the big telescope and used a shutter release to activate long exposure and captured the most amazing photos of the stars! The colour and formations were incredible! This is a must see for anyone who is interested in astronomy or even just to gaze at the night sky with uninterrupted views. Depending on the time of year you go will determine what you see but there is always something to amaze you! Thanks Peter it was awesome!
