A must-see brimful of nature

This nature reserve was absolutely lovely, especially given that Warialda and districyt has enjoyed a huge amount of rain during Spring 2021. The tables and chairs are well maintained by the caretakers as were the toilets. The walk is an easy one whether over the suspension bridge and down to the 'beach' or up to the lookout. The huge boulders are magnificent. Photos don't really do them justice. Much birdlife and many butterfiles plus dragonflies evident. It was warm enough to swim but due to limited time at the attraction I did not. The horse that insisted on eating one of our tour participant's lunch had no doubt done this many times before. We all laughed.

A unique slice of the bush.
We had an extended stay at Cranky Rock earlier this year. Could write a book about our adventures and experiences, all good of course. In a nutshell the entire shire is phenomenal, however the micro community that is Cranky Rock rocks. Our hosts, Elisha and Todd went above and beyond our expectations, making us feel more than welcome and that nothing was too much trouble. We had power, tank water, views of the bush, interaction with an abundance of animal life both native and domesticated. We had rain events which transformed the creeks and pools which are the drawcard of this amazing little nature reserve. It is well worth the visit and a stay for at least a night or two is bound to impress.

    Spectacular rock formations
As the saying goes: "you never never know if you never never go" and so it was that we decided to sidetrack to Cranky Rock Nature Reserve on a slow trip along the Fossickers Way. So glad that we did: outstanding rock formations (to rival Girraween National Park in Qld) , great bird watching and lovely a lovely swimming hole (particularly post rain). We only spent a few hours but could have easily spent longer. Dog friendly, too.
