Corrective Services NSW Museum, New South Wales, Australia

Great find in Cooma

We weren't planning on visiting this museum but the lady in the Cooma information centre highly recommended it. As it was only a gold coin donation for entry we thought we had nothing to lose. It's probably not for parents who are too precious. The tour was conducted by a combination of guards and inmates. The highlight of the tour for our kids was being able to pull the lever and operate the gallows. Very informative and a real eye opener for the whole family. My kids are now determined never to end up in prison as they were informed they wouldn't have access to Wifi

    Excellent Tour
We went here not expecting a great deal but came away pleasantly surprised. We were met but a prison guard, I think his name was Rob, who looks after the museum and he provided us with an excellent tour. The amount of memorabilia and stories we saw and heard from Rob was outstanding and finished off with a demo of the gallows, previously from Bathust Goal. He was informative, knowledgeable and passionate bout the museum and the corrective services in general. Well worth the visit.
