Circular Quay, New South Wales, Australia

4.5 (4.335 reviews) Spent 1-2 hours Ranking #18 in Sydney Piers & Boardwalks

Sydney harbour

Circular Quay is a colorful port where ferries and cruise ships board and depart, and boat watching can be as good a pastime as people watching. While street performers entertain outside, those wanting a more cultural experience can head into the Museum of Contemporary Art where a sculpture garden on the roof is as much a view as the waterways below.

Transportation Hub For Locals, Must Visit For The Tourists
When visiting Sydney it is difficult to avoid encountering Circular Quay. Either you will need to go past this place, whether by train or because you need to catch the ferry, or you will want to come here to get a closer look at both the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. Circular Quay is basically a place to catch the ferry though there is also a train station and light rail stop as well. When you arrive at Circular Quay the Harbour Bridge will be in the 11 o'clock direction and the Opera House will be in the 1 o'clock direction. The Opera House will be within walking distance from Circular Quay. Circular Quay is usually crowded by both commuters and tourists alike. For the latter group, there are volunteers standing around that are willing to provide information. There are a lot of places to get food here most notably McDonald's, Hungry Jack's and Subway. If you are on your departure day from Sydney, do take the time to give your farewell to the city by catching the Airport Line from Town Hall Train Station. The train will go past Circular Quay and give you a glimpse of Sydney Harbour on your way to the airport.

    The Hub Of Sydney
It is one of the most crowded areas in Sydney. Tram lines start there, a major train stop above ground and the ferry terminals, along with passenger cruise ship terminal. Museums, restaurants, and lots of outdoor space to walk, sit and watch the crowds. Also adjacent to the popular Rocks area.
