Caves and quaintness

Cute little seaside town adjacent to the sea caves. The caves themselves are nothing particularly mindblowing, but the area as a whole is oozing with charm. Make sure you check the tides and go at low tide as they are inaccessible at any other time. The caves themselves are roped off so you cannot enter them. Wear sandals or shoes you can get wet as you will need to cross tidal pools and a small stream to get close. There is a restaurant, cafe, shops and washrooms all on site. If you’re feeling extra adventurous follow the path around the point at low tide to a hidden cove with additional non roped off caves. It’s very pretty and worth the effort, just time it correctly or you’ll be swimming back! :) Nice little spot. I’d recommend about 1 hour… more if you want lunch or a nice beachside coffee.

Nice Attraction - Need At Least 3 Hours to Visit/Explore
I really loved this excursion from the cruise ship. My only regret is that I wish this was the only activity, because 1-hour just isn't enough time. We came here during low tide that way we were able to walk all the way out to the mouth of the caves (the caves are closed/off limits due to visitors' abuse.) If you can, drive yourself so you can spend more time here and not rush. We did a best of St John excursion, so we didn't have time to get anything to eat or much time to explore the area. The caves are part of the greater Stonehammer Geoppark, which is very large and full of activities. Wear good/sturdy beach shoes/sandals because going over the rocks can make you twist your ankle.

    Always a Nice Experience
This is always an enjoyable place to go to experience high and low tides. Yes, you have to go at both high tide and low tide (approx. 6 hours apart) to get the full experience, but it's definitely worth doing. It can get a bit touristy there and there are often lots of kids running around, so be prepared. The sea caves are located about 35 minutes outside of Saint John and you have to drive along a few hilly, windy and narrow roads to get there, but it is definitely worth it. Your pics of St. Martin's sea caves will be worthy of Instagram, that's for sure. Don't forget to go explore the caves when the tide is out (and you can actually access them). There are 2 lunch spots right on the beach and a gift shop. Bring your camping chairs to sit on the beach, as seating is limited. This is not the kind of beach you'll be spreading a towel down to lay on.
