Great day on the water!

We were fortunate to have a glorious day in October. The boat ride and info provided by the biologists on board was worth the price of admission. We did see minke whales, seals, a tuna, and bald eagles. The captain did a great job of maneuvering for optimal viewing. And we got to spend some time with the Old Sow and her piglets! Very nice, all in our group enjoyed it and we were diverse in our interests and abilities.

Great excursion for the whole family!
Our expectations were exceeded on this one! The naturalists were so informative and knowledgeable. The Captain did a great job navigating us so that all sides of the boat could see everything. The weather was perfect, but layers were definitely useful. Even though most people were looking for whales, seals and porpoises, the guides knew I was interested especially in birds, and they pointed out a lot about them too. The trip back was equally interesting with the presentation of various aquatic animal specimens, and, of course, cookies and hot chocolate. This is a good trip for everyone, young and old!

    Very Cool Experience!
We were able to get spots for our family of 6 (2 adults and 4 children ages 10, 8, 4 and 2) on the 5:00 whale watching tour. Here is some advice: 1. They aren’t lying when they say to dress warmly, regardless of the temperature on land. It got very chilly out on the open water! 2. The tour is amazing and absolutely beautiful, but a bit long for younger kids. Our older children loved it. But our younger two were getting quite antsy and the boat isn’t the best place for a couple of young, restless children! If I had known then what I know now, I wouldn’t have brought the younger two! The staff try hard to find animals to see. They explain lots about the animals, but if you aren’t near the staff member who is speaking, you won’t hear a thing. The only person who talks over the intercom is the captain, who will let you know what is seen and in which position (I.e., at 2:00). On the way back, chocolate chip cookies and hot chocolate is served, which especially helped the kids who were already getting hungry despite eating moments before going on the boat tour! With this being said, you can bring snacks aboard, so it’s a good choice, especially if you have kids with you! They also take some time to show you some sea creatures like starfish, scallop, urchins, and sea cucumbers on the way back. The kids were even invited to hold some of them, which they loved! All in all, it was a great experience and we are glad the we did it while on our trip out East.
