Unique desert in Europe....Bardenas Reales
We (2 adults and 2 kids) planned a visit to Bardenas Reales and were very glad to book the trip with Compania de Guias de las Bardenas. Our guide for the day was Enrique and he was perfectly on time. Enrique was very enthousiastic and his English was good. He took us to 'secret' places of the desert en showed us the area and told us about living in the desert. He explained the terrain and rock formations very clearly. Most beautiful were the vultures' nests on the Cliffs and observe the vultures with proffesional goggles with a team of people who protect the area. With Enrique we had immediately contact and good use their observation gear....wonderful. Sometimes you don't realise that your still in Europe...it looks like the badlands of the USA or a desert in North Africa. Thats why this place is a popular area to shoot movies (westerns/Game of Thrones). We and the kids liked it very much and recommend a 4x4 tour with Compania de Guias de las Bardenas. Gracias!!

Excellent Insight
We could have driven the Bardenas Reales unsealed roads on our own but chose to book a guided 4x4 tour and we were so glad we did. Enrique was our guide for the late afternoon / evening. He arrived promptly and we met at the park information centre . We appreciated the many moments we had the chance to stop and walk amidst the rock formations and across the crusty water courses. The evening sun gave us such beautiful light and Enrique stopped frequently to ensure we have a large range of photos from this experience. We would recommend sunscreen and plenty of water if you are heading out on a hot day. We don't normally do guided tours but on this occasion, it was an excellent choice. Easy to organise via email and our guide was excellent. He apologises for his English but we understood him perfectly. Many thanks to Enrique and this company for such a great experience. I highly recommend visiting Bardenas with this company!
They were very accommodating, considering I arranged my visit last minute. I chose the visit in Spanish, but the guide, Enrique, also speaks English very well. To visit the Bardenas, I would definitely recommend going with a guide as there's much more to it than just the Castildetierra. Not just that, but the views become much more fascinating when accompanied by the information from the guide. Lots of interesting information given during the duration of the visit, especially about what caused the formations, the wildlife in the area, and much more. The Bardenas are known to be foggy in the morning, so maybe thats a consideration as I imagine with the sun, the views must be even more impressive. But even with the fog during my morning visit, it was still a very good experience.
