Song Kul trip in October

Our trip was horse riding to Song Kul lake, contacted on Instagram with local tour company Kyzart Travel. In yhe morning I met my tour guide and driver from Kochkor, driving 1 hr to starting point. Started for the incredibly horse riding to Song kul lake. In Kyrgyzstan you keep thinking the scenery can’t get more beautiful, but even in October, the country keeps amazing me. Beautiful mountain valleys, small villages. There was still snow on the mountain pass where we stopped for a little break to enjoy the views. From the top of the pass I could already see Song kul lake in the distance. The journey had been just as spectacular as the lake. In yurt staying wad great experience, in the evening we possible to see beautiful sunset. When you going to sleep in yurt is fine inside warm, just early morning is colder but we managed, we had big blankets. Temperature during the day was +15 at night-5

    A wonderful and scenic 3-days hike in Son-Kul Lake
    We booked a 3-days horse-riding trek thanks to the Shepherd's Life agency in Kotchkor and had a wonderful experience there. The lake is only reachable at the very end of May and for most of the summer. When we went, the local families there had just come back and were still setting up the yurts : it's a great opportunity to help them set them up and share a moment with the families there. Besides, most tourists had no arrived yet, so the place was almost all for ourselves. The trek itself can be somewhat challenging for beginners, but still entirely worth it. The view stays scenic all the way, especially at the passes and when the lake first appears to you. The local families were friendly and hospitable, and we slept and ate very well there. Our guide Beka spoke English and was a great conversationer, and helped us if we had any trouble. The agency's boss in Kotchkor was very competent, and organized everything for us extremely fast. She also came back to Bichkek with us after the end of our Son Kul Lake trip, and invited us to drink tea with her at some of her favorite tea places on the way back. Overall an amazing experience I would recommend to anyone in Kyrgyzstan, especially early before the summer months where it gets more crowded. It was very worth it, both in terms of experience and for its costs.

    Winter horse riding with Kyrgyz Riders
    After an incognito 2020, i decided to do something adventurous in 2021 and wow what i start i had in Kyrgyzstan. I flew to Bishkek 0n 2nd feb and decided to visit places which are famous in summer but inaccessible by conventional ways in winter. My goal was to ride to the top of the song kul lake on a horse in a snowy and a bit dangerous mountain path. To fullfil my goal, i met with Aman, the owner of Kyrgyz riders (+996558033880). It took us 2 days to reach the top of the lake and the journey was mind blowing and hands down the best experience of my life !. The path was covered with snow and we had to often get down the horses to navigate them without stepping on ice which would break the horse leg ! The crisp winter breeze turned to extreme wind with temperatures well below negative 10 C. we had to climb over a mountain pass 3400 meters above sea level. The path after the pass was extraordinary and straight out of pictures i have seen of antartica ! wow what an experience it was! the lake was frozen and the ice thickness was well above 1.5 meters. if you can carry your skies along with you, it would be a great experience to ski there ! and best of all i was the ONLY tourist there !!!! can you believe it haha because in summer i think more than 100 K people visit this place !.
