A glorious art space-- a highlight of the area
One of the great joys of traveling around Thailand is discovering privately funded non-profit art galleries, and the Khao Yai Art Museum is a real gem. It is a glorious art space featuring paintings, sculptures and installations by famous and not so famous Thai artists. Both indoor and outdoor display areas, the latter beautifully set in delightful gardens. Lovely staff, great little cafe and a terrific shop upstairs

Must see if u hv time. Generous owners open it to public for free to share their collection.
Family of 4 (no teens) Not a big collection but most interesting. After the rude treatment in a disappointing winery visit, it was a pleasure to be received by a staff who gave a brief & concise introduction of the Art Museum, layout of display halls in the good English. What strikes me is the lifelike paintings. A wide array of medium & themes - some provocative. Dont miss the interesting sculptures & installations in the open garden. Spent an hour including taking photos. Recommend early morn or 4pm onwards for cooler temperatures. Be respectful. Dont sit or step up to the sculptures. A pity the souvenir shop & cafe is on 2nd level (no lift)- so my elderly mother cant go up to enjoy the overview. Suggestion: little magnets or miniatures of the signature pieces would be lovely!

fantastic modern contemporary museum
We dropped in on our last day in Khao Yai before heading back to Bangkok. The road or lane leading to this museum was a bit misleading ... simple rural folks' houses. Suddenly, we reached to a beautiful compound with lots of art-works installations and an equally stunning contemporary building that serves as the museum. And the entrance was totally free, a rare thing in Khao Yai actually. The outdoors artworks were simply stunning. Indoor displays consist of 3d artworks and contemporary paintings in many mediums except photography,. There was a simple yet elegant cafe for a cuppa of fresh coffee The staff on duty were very friendly but very attentive (perhaps to keep an eye on potential vandalism by visitors) Nice place to relax, enjoy the artworks and escape the hot day
