Leigh Lake, Montana, United States

4.0 (4 reviews) Spent 1-2 hours Ranking #9 in Libby Bodies of Water • Hiking Trails

Definitely not easy.

Don't let the mile and a half distance fool you. You will earn this one. The trail begins in the back of the parking lot and climbs the entire way. The first half is just forest floor. This will become rocky, but easily walkable until the waterfall. From here it gets difficult. It's steep with a lot of loose shale and gravel underfoot. You'll need to watch your step on the way up, more so on the way down. Don't expect to do this one quickly. Definitely not recommended for small children.

    Steep hike but great view
This was a short but steep hike. Most of the hike was through the forest without many views. There was a beautiful waterfall we passed, and the lake was very pretty. Lots of mosquitoes but bug spray helped.

Short hike with an amazing view
Great little hike into Leigh Lake with an amazing view of the lake and the Cabinet Mountain wilderness. Hike is steep so make sure you are in shape. We hiked this day as a storm was rolling in but it was still fun. Arrived at the lake and there was snow flying. Road into the trailhead is suitable for all vehicles. Plan on taking 2 to 3 hours to complete a round trip hike.
