Princess Grace Irish Library, Monaco-Ville, Monaco

4.5 (5 reviews) Spent 1-2 hours Ranking #22 in Monaco-Ville Speciality Museums

Fascinating .... especially for Irish people.

Princess Grace's grandfather was born in County Mayo in 1847, and emigrated to USA. Princess Grace was proud of her Irish ancestry, she amassed a collection of Irish books, which has been added to along the way. A fascinating collection including original books, and memorabilia from Grace's life and childhood. I was lucky enough to be shown around by Judith, the Administrator, who was generous with her time, passionate and enthusiastic. Brings a special insight into Monaco to hear a lifelong native talk about everyday life, the people and reminisces about Princess Grace.

    Hidden gem
The library is a hidden gem in Monaco. It was so interesting. There are lots of amazing photographs and a huge collection of books. I'm really glad we found it!

Charming Little Library with any book on Ireland you could think of
On a small street near the Oceanographic Museum is the Princess Grace Irish Library. Go up one flight of stairs and ring the bell to get in. There are two smallish rooms packed with every book imaginable on Ireland. Some are set out for display with pictures and other items. We spent about 90 minutes just browsing through books and the display items. A nice quiet respite from the usual tourist activities!
