Great Perspective on Size of our Solar System
We started on our bikes in Coleman. Read the sign by the big sun sculpture and started down the trail. Before long, my husband told me I had just blown by Mercury, Venus and Earth -- they were much closer that I imagined! But it's 5.5+ miles to reach Pluto. Amazed and delighted!

A New Perspective
My wife and I did a lot of tandem bicycling on the Pere Marquette Rail Trail this last summer. Along the trail, starting at the town of Coleman there begins a solar system journey. It starts with a a huge statue of the sun in Coleman and, as you ride back toward Midland, you pass by all the planets (in their appropriate sizes and relative distances from the sun). It's fun to think that you're passing through the solar system on a bike!!!!
