New Presque Isle Lighthouse, Michigan, United States
4.5 (106 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in Presque Isle Lighthouses
Beautiful views
We visited the keepers house first and was given a tour by Carl who was fantastic and really knows the history of the lighthouse keepers and Coast Guard that took over. The “new” lighthouse next door has 138 steps and is the tallest in the Great Lakes that is open to the public to climb. The 3rd order fresnel lens is on display at the bottom by the gift shop. It is $5 to climb this lighthouse and price includes the old Presque Isle lighthouse. You can go outside on the catwalk; most Great Lakes lighthouses you cannot go on the catwalk. Views are beautiful.

Worth the drive
This lighthouse is located in what feels like a very remote area. We didn’t pass any other cars while driving out to it, but then again it was the “off season” since we visited in March. The museum was closed but we were able to drive right up to the lighthouse and take pictures. If you keep driving past the lighthouse, there is a little lookout area on the lake. It seems like a very well maintained lighthouse and I would like to come back in the summer and experience more of the area.
