Great Wine

A nice place to sample local wines and relax while people-watching on Main St. I've been here a few times, and will go back.

A nice way to unwwind with your BFF!
Whenever I am in Rochester, I make sure I stop at Fieldstone and stock up on all my favorites. The wine also makes fabulous gifts from someplace local. My BFF and I willl go to Fielstone occasionally on a Sunday afternoon when the glasses of wine are half off. We always buy the cheese platter to go with our wine. The cheese platter is always very generous. We call that lunch! Before we leave we always stock up on our favorites and maybe a new wine that we tried! My favorite place in Rochester!

Nice setting in a great town, but...
We live in the area and had never been to Fieldstone Winery. Some people tell us it is good, some say not. I like to be my own judge. So, my wife and I went here with a friend to check it out. Here is my opinion: The atmosphere was good and the place was very clean. The staff was very friendly, and the pours were reasonably priced. Most of the wines are made from kits, some are made from grapes. I do know the difference. Most of the urban wineries make kit wines and they are good to excellent. Do not tell me that all your wines are made from grapes crushed at your facility when they are not. That is just being outright dishonest. With that said, I decided to try a wine that I know does not come from a kit. It was a Bordeaux blend and was just awful. Who in there right mind would pay the menu price of $20 per bottle? I cannot speak for the other wines they made from grapes. Maybe they are good. We did not stick around to find out. We left a nice tip for what we consumed and went home to enjoy a nice bottle of Gewurtztraminer from Hook & Ladder (Sonoma).
