A Great Way to Experience Detroit!

After years of hearing how dirty and dangerous Detroit was, I was a little apprehensive about visiting, but knew that I wanted to experience the Motor City. I was completely surprised at how clean and safe the River Walk area and the downtown in general was. Detroit is a great city that is experiencing a renaissance (GM Renaissance Building pun not included) and I thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The Riverwalk is about 3 miles long and there is a nice, easy access parking lot at the corner of Rivard and Atwater Streets. The views of the Detroit River and Windsor, Canada are incredible. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area.

    Biking the Riverfront
Today was a blast! We rented bikes from the kiosk located at the Millikan State Park / Cullen Center. The couple that own the shop have a lovely selection of bikes at a reasonable price. The sky was blue. The temps were 60’s and it wasn’t too crowded on the riverfront. We rode the full length both directions and went on north to the Atwater brewery to “wet our whistle” then returned our bikes. Detroit is such a beautiful city and I was glad to see people out next enjoying it! Great day!

A lovely place to walk or visit
We love this area of the city and enjoy bringing out-ot-towners to walk along the river and see a lovely part of the Detroit. One trip, a Mallard duck walked with us and showed the areas of nature through his eyes. It's a gem!
