Lovely garden not far from home
Yesterday I walked to the Garden in the Woods (2.6 miles one way) and it was so worth it. Such a gem! The pond with white lilies surrounded by flowers is peaceful and tranquil. You can relax on the benches scattered on the trail paths and hear the voices of the Garden: chirping birds, croaking frogs, buzzing mosquitos (the latter is not too pleasant though). The Bog Loop adorned with blossoming yellow cacti is a festive bright spot in the Garden. I was very happy I finally made it there - it was worth a long walk. Parking lot was not full when I visited.

    Tour guide makes a difference
I joined a group of LIRA seniors on a tour of this place yesterday. Our tour guide was super and we all learned so much about the native plants and history of this garden. I had gone before years ago but having a tour guide made the experience so much better. Highly recommend visiting. I even bought a native perennial for my own garden from them. We were there for about 2 hours.
