Rock Walls & Vernal Pools Delight
My husband and I have been to a few of the Trustees sites and have been impressed with them. Copicut Woods only strengthens this opinion. The trails are maintained, well marked and pristine. We printed off a map before we got there, but amazingly there were maps at the trail head. There are many trails to hike, enabling you to go for any length of distance or time. The highlights of the trail are the impressive rock walls throughout the property. Some are made with very large boulders and over streams there are rock bridges with surprising creativity. There are two old homestead sites where you can see old house/barn foundations made of stone. Be sure to visit the old Wilson Cemetary which is slightly separate from the main trail. This is straight out of a horror move. The entire cemetary is covered with creeping myrtle and lilies of the valley. We walked for about 1 hour and did not see one person, so you really feel isolated with nature, and the best part it's free.

    Lost in the woods
Went into the Copicut Woods today, downloaded a map because I was sure I wouldn't find any at the site and I was right ...no maps.Started at # 10 and was walking a nice wide beautiful road that I like to picture as 100 yrs ago maybe someone was taking a ride in a horse drawn carriage very pretty. Then we decided to take one of the paths off to the side clearly marked in orange on the trees, well let me just say about 31/2 hours later lost and coming out in the someones back yard ,which we met the owner of this back yard told her we were lost and she replied "you must have been lost for sometime because I own 20ty acres back there".She told us how to get to the main road and we were still a couple of miles from our car.My point? I don't think the trails are well marked.I was with three other people ....so it was not just me.Anyone else have this problem?
