Great bustling market. 16,000 stalls in the souks. friendly place with not too much hassle a friendly NO is fine as most of the time you are left alone. Take a coffee or drink on one of the terraces overlooking the BIG square. Probably godd if you are a good , tough negotiator to get that bargain. Best way to see most things is to book a day tiour from your hotel. We paid about £50.00 each for a day tour with a guide, included a great lunch and drinks on the roof terrace overlooking the Square. There was a lot to see and I thought great value, and very interesting day out ( lots of nooks and crannies that would be easily missed if not having a guide.

    A Different World
From a western perspective, it is truly another world. And based on some of the more recent reviews, if you’re easily offended, aren’t willing to accept a different culture and want the most modern health and safety regulations, then stay the hell home. That being said, The Medina is otherworldly, amazing, full of potential scams, annoying and beautiful. If you can get through the main square unscathed, wander into the myriad of alleys, pathways and aisles and lose yourself among the hundreds if not thousands of shops, storefronts and stands. Go as deep as you dare and try to find the artisan areas. The negatives are that as soon as you stop or make eye contact you are endlessly harangued until you either pay too much for something or stalk away waving your hands. You’re really not allowed to wallow in the beauty of the place and buy what you actually want. I would have bought more items had I been allowed to peruse at my own pace instead of getting fed up. A couple Pro Tips; the current scam at the entrance is someone telling you they work at your hotel and they can show you around. The 2nd trip we were even told which hotel. Most likely the cab drivers tell their buddies which hotels they will be parking at to pick up or the cab facilitator will let them know. Shoo them away. Tip #2; you’re better off buying T-shirts at the airport. There’s no hassle, you know the price and the quality is probably better. Tip #3; Just Say No All in all a very interesting couple of excursions. And yes I would do it again if I ever return.
