A place showing how peoples can live in peace and harmony
Shalom Alaykoum and Salam Lekoulam. Both sets of words are combinations of Arabic and Hebrew, meaning Peace be to you. And this place celebrates the long history of co-existence of Muslims and Jews in Essaouira and Morrocco in general. It shows how the King of Morocco has made sure this is known, and ensured it is remembered. The museum does this with many pictures, stories, and artifacts, all beautifully displayed. Also in the building is the tiny Simon Atttias synagogue, which is a gem in itself. Unfortunately all the signs are in frence, but it is free and well worth a visit with a french speaker.

very interesting
If you are interested in the importance of Jewish history and the coexistence of Jews and Muslims in Morocco - don't miss visiting this little interesting museum with its small Synagogue . It is located within the "Mellah" of Essaouira's old medina .
