Mardin Museum, Mardin Province, Turkiye

4.5 (168 reviews) Spent Ranking #4 in Mardin Speciality Museums

Neat museum with great architecture

Set in the midst of old town Mardin this is a very interesting museum with a nice display of local artifacts found in the area. While the interior is similar to such museums with ancient pottery items, coins, figures,...etc the exterior architecture I found the most interesting and beautiful. Entry fee is very cheap and there're great views of Mardin and Mesopotamia plains.

    Ancient mervels
The architecture is breathtaking in this part of town, and the museum is a proper example of how buildings looked at almost a thousand years before. The exhibitions are decent and feature the rich culture of the diverse population of Mardin/Mesopotamia, with influences from Syriac, Persian, Kurdish as well as roman cultures. Worth a visit even just for the architectural treasures.
