Manambolo River, Mahajanga Province, Madagascar

4.5 (40 reviews) Spent More than 3 hours Ranking #3 in Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park Bodies of Water • Nature & Wildlife Areas

The history is worth the trip

This was added in by our agent so we weren't sure exactly what to expect. However the canoe ride was tranquil and the caves are fun. It is great way to experience some local culture as well. it was worth the couple hours in the morning to do.

Review on Emile Expeditions - a five-day trip with Emile Rakotomalala to Little and Big Tsingy
My husband and I spent 5 days with Emile, his brother Fetra and driver Jaca on our trip from Morondava to Tsingy de Bemaraha and Alle of Baobabs. We contacted Emile 3 months before our arrival, told him our wishes and sent him some money in advance that he can arrange everything for us on time. Everything with him and his crew was just perfect! They waited for us at a bus station in Morondava, the accomodation was already arranged and on the second morning we went to Bekopaka. To get to Bekopaka and Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park, it is necessary to make a little effort, the roads are very bad and to cross the Manambolo River you have to put your car on the raft so it takes some time, but definitely worth it. Whole trip was very interesting to us, not just Tsingy, nature in Madagascar is really spectacular and we passed through the very interesting villages. With Emile, Fetra and Jaca was never boring, because Emile was always talking about people, customs and nature and patiently responded to all of our guestions. In Bekopaka, we slept 3 nights in camp in tents, as it was our wish, and the camp hosts cooked for us excellent, traditional dishes. Everything was very native, homely atmosphere and we had a chance to have a lot of contact with the locals and Emile as an organizer made sure everything works well, and that nothing is missing in any moment. We visited Little and Big Tsingy, made a night walk in search of chameleons and we watched the sunset in the Avenue of the Baobabs. Personally, for Emile I can say that he is very professional and responsible, very seriously understands his job but he is also very friendly. and communicative. He speaks English well. His brother Fetra is also very friendly , and driver Jaca is a legend :) Thank you Emile for wonderful time in Madagascar! Marina Šeremet
