worth a short visit if you like colonial buildings
The Taipah Museum consists of only a few houses. Those who like colonial buildings are worth a short visit. The Taipa houses are within walking distance of the Venetian Hotel in a quiet footpath over a bridge and a meadow in about 10 minutes. Unfortunately I could not visit the houses, because a private event of the Macau Grand prix took place.

Another decent museum in Taipa village area, great view of Cotai Strip
We visited the Taipa Houses Museum and found it to be a good compliment attraction in Taipa Village. Here you will find a series of five restored Macanese houses, greenish in colour. The homes are typical of colonial Portuese era. The ticket price is MOP5 which gives you entrance into the first three houses. House 4 is free and House 5 was not open to the public. Entrance is free on Sunday and the Museum is closed on Mondays (as of August 2011) House 1 was fashioned with furniture and indoor fixtures from the colonial time. However, everything is a bit overly polished, a bit to clean, when some rustic characteristics might have been appreciated better. House 2 was more of a time capsule musuem of history of Taipa village. It was interesting, ready made for the history buffs. House 3 was more of a Portugal exhibit, its regions and historical occupations and agriculture. It seemed a bit too touristy for us. As a result, House 3 was our least favorite of the houses. House 4 was hosting a free art exhibit that was pretty good. Entrance to this house was free to the public and didn't require the MOP5 ticket. Overall, we were happy with our 30 minute visit to the Taipa Houses Musuem and found it very good value for money at MOP5. While we would not target this musuem individually, it does make a worth while stop if you are planning to visit the very interesting Taipa Village area. We recommend combining the Taipa Houses Museum with the Museum of Taipa and Coloane History on the other side of Taipa Village.
