"A HIDDEN PEARL IN SASSY MACAU"
People tend to overlook this tiny, yet gorgeous and well maintained historical Museum on top of the Mount Fortress and Old City Walls (Fortaleza do Monte). They have managed to blend both Chinese and Portuguese historical events and way of living along the centuries. A must see and is a free-entrance cultural attraction!

Lovely museum
After a long ferry ride we got to Macau.Hot weather so we went into the delightful air conditioned museum. We learnt a lot and spent more time here than we thought we would.Shame it's not nearer Hong Kong but otherwise would go again

Macau's best museum, nice combined visit with the Mount Fortress
The Macau Museum (MOP15) is located in the Forte Monte, located next to the Ruins of St. Paul. While not a world-class museum, it is nice effort to present a historical account of Macau during recent centuries. In this regard, this is probably Macau's best museum and one that will be appreciated by those who enjoy learning the history and culture of countries visited. Within the museum, you can learn about the role Macau played in maritime activity in this part of the world, particularly during the European colonial era. There are some building styles on display for both Portuguese and local Chinese styles, much of what you can still find around the restored historic city centre today. Much museum offers both Colonial and Chinese culture, heritage and how they have blended together uniquely here in Macau. On the second floor there are some display rooms, offering perspectives to the way of life for both, and throughout the museum you will find miniature scale displays offering scenes of live and events reflecting Macau's interesting past. Overall, this is a very good museum for the small price paid. You can visit it in 30-45 minutes or easily spend over an hour going through the museum more casually. It is recommended that you spend a few minutes at the Forte Monte as well as the exit of the museum is actually at the top of the fort. Hint: If you plan to visit the Macau Museum and Forte Monte, it is best to visit the museum first so you can use the escalators which can take you to the museum entrance. Upon finishing your visit, you will find yourself at the top of the fort and will have avoided the long and steep walk up to the fort if you try to approach it first. This can definitely help you save your energy and prevent fatique, important if you are trying to see many of the nice attractions in this area of Macau.
