Visit en route to Legazpi

We visited Quitinday underground river on our way to Legazpi. It’s around 3 hours drive the road towards Jovellar from Guinobatan was not as well paved as the main road, some areas were rough! The road towards Legazpi though was good and not well used. Entrance fee was not cheap considering the underground river was not that long. It looks unspoilt and clean though. The walk through a waterfall to go to the swimming area looks precarious though, we did not attempt it since we were travelling with a child. A good pit stop to Legazpi.

Another gift of nature in Albay
This is better known as the Jovellar Underground River and is located not in Camalig, but in Brgy. Quitinday in Jovellar, Albay ... around an hour away by car from Legazpi City. The best way to reach the place is by private car and by using Waze or Google map. Once you reach the place, you'll have to register at the Registration Office, pay the entrance fees (which include a bamboo raft ride, environmental fee, and a tour guide). From there you walk a few meters to the entrance to the cave where some boat men help you get on a bamboo raft. The road can be a bit of a challenge since you'll have to walk on uneven terrain and step on sometimes slippery stones. But the boat men are there to assist you. The raft ride inside the dark cave is only about 10-15 minutes, at the end of which you'll reach a waterfall and climb it. This is the more challenging part! On top of the waterfall, you can swim in the river that supplies it with water. It's very refreshing to take a dip in its clear and coolish waters. :D Aside from the underground river, the tour guide will also take you to the Sigpit waterfall nearby. You can wade through the river that leads to it and enjoy its clear waters full of fish and shrimps. All in all, a visit to this gift of nature is interesting and exciting. I would highly recommend it. The place was opened to the public only last 2015, so it's still partly undeveloped. No commercial establishments yet. It's quite pristine and ideal for those who are found of nature trips.
