Decent, Calm Beach

Also known as Balneario La Monserrate, Luquillo Beach attracts travelers to its calm waters, gently sloping shores, and raft of watersports. The beach is framed by the verdant El Yunque National Rainforest and lined with coconut palms. A highlight here is the famous Luquillo food kiosks. Local vendors normally sell traditional Puerto Rican fritters like alcapurrias, locally-caught seafood, and inexpensive drinks made with a special ingredient: Puerto Rican rum. Facilities like showers and picnic areas can be found here too. Visit this beach on a guided tour that includes a stop at El Yunque. – Tripadvisor

Beach technically closed but who cares!
We visited the beach today, and plan to go back tomorrow because we loved it so much. The beach is technically closed on Mondays and z Tuesdays, but this just means that the facilities and lifeguards are not open. When you see the beach itself you won’t care! Absolutely gorgeous beach with plenty of sand and space. The beach didn’t have too many people there when we first arrived but even as it got more crowded there was plenty of space for everyone. The waves weren’t huge, slightly rough, but not too bad, just watch out for the currents and riptides especially when lifeguards are not on duty, the kiosks are a great addition. We got in late a few days ago and drove past the kiosks at night and they looked like they were lively and bumping. Food and drinks at the kiosks were wonderful and the people working at them were friendly and funny. The kiosks have a bit of a dive bar meets wildwood boardwalk feel for anyone who would be familiar with that. We love that vibe so it’s perfect for us. We decided we want to spend our last day in The area there again for longer than today. We’d love to explore the rainforest too but this spot stole our hearts and we can’t wait to go back tomorrow!

    Decent, Calm Beach
Came here as part of an excursion as it was the last stop. As other reviews stated, the street behind the kiosks can be trashy(watch out for broken glass). The beach was calm, wasnt too crowded. Parking is like $5 in the fenced in lot. The water is very calm compared to other beaches on the Puerto Rican north coast. Good for kids. However, later in the day, the local families come out (especially on weekends), so the beach will get crowded and a little louder. Also, to rent two beach chairs it was $35USD, and the vendor only took cash. That was annoying, but whatever. Get drinks at one of the kiosks and just take them over to the beach.
