    Exhausting open air kultur -
Museumsdorf Niedersulz is north east of Vienna and was founded in 1979 and is the only and largest open air museum in Lower Austria. Buildings, exhibits, articles and documents with lots of planted gardens illustrate brilliantly the working lives of the Weinvietrel at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. Making bricks is an extra and house building explained threw the ages. A school building exists which is very well presented. The life of the farmer in transition from the manorial structure to modern agrarian policy exhibition is good too. Most houses have one or more rooms finished and open to walk into others you peer through iron gates. The old tavern here was only closed in 1977. Nearby are numerous wine cellars. A grocers shop and a St George chapel are present. There are about 80 historical buildings are to be found with the interiors furnished to give you an insight as to how the folk living in those ages in the countryside lived. NOT suitable for disabled, walking stick or wheelchair users as lots of rough uneven slopes outside. You need to be quite fit as the site is large and involves a lot of walking although there are plenty of rest settings and toilets as you go around. No wifi. A coffee machine dispenses coffee for one euro and if open the cafe. It was closed on my visit day. Clean loos. Dogs allowed on a lead. There are farm yard animals on site like pigs donkeys turkey and chickens. Plenty car parking. Not easy to get to by public transport. Ticket prices 11 euro for adults with concessions for seniors, children and family ticket. Only open between mid April to mid October due to the outside nature of the museum.

    Very interesting old Weinviertel Village
The museum village Niedersulz in Niedersulz is very easy to reach by car, many signs show the right way. A huge parking lot for cars and buses is available. A very attractive, modern building acts as an entrance with a shop. The entrance fees are for adults at 12 euros, which is acceptable, as much is offered. It is the largest open-air museum in Lower Austria. The beginnings of the museum go back to 1979. Currently, about 20 hectares of numerous historic houses and farms from the Weinviertel and a Südmährerhof are shown. The first building was a Weinviertel Streckhof, which was threatened with demolition. In the meantime, 75 buildings have been transferred to the museum village. Components such as wooden structures, windows, but also roof tiles are reused, and the brickwork, which is usually made of unfired clay bricks, is made of new material. A real feature of the museum, even compared with other comparable open-air museums, is the depiction of a single village of considerable size in the diversity of its spheres of life - an approach that essentially consists of translocated buildings. In this village are 75 objects from almost the entire region and form a typical village ensemble with village square, paths and cellar lane. In addition to the typical for the Weinviertel hook and draft farms can be found in the museum village farm buildings, craft houses, pigeon busts, Schlauchturm, a functioning watermill and three Catholic churches or chapels. A special feature is the Lutheran chapel from Niederfellabrunn dar. In the museum village is an authentic historic tavern operated on a farm typical pets are kept. The entire area is designed as a natural garden in which both old fruit tree varieties are drawn as well as typical Weinviertel farm gardens are created. In the old tavern and in the cellar lane one gets a good culinary supply, which is also priced in order. If this review was helpful for you, please activate the "helpful button"!
