    Very nice, but expensive
The place is exceptionally nice and well maintained. Very nice garden, landscaping, ... However, prices are also very high. There are multiple parts: a playground for children that is accessible for free. a small restaurant / cafe that offers snacks like a veggie burger, hot dogs, cakes, ... a well maintained garden with benches inside. Two buildings that house the exhibitions that are accessible via a 1h guided tour each. A small area where children (and adults) can dig for stones. digging for stones is probably not worth it, because you basically dig for some worthless Amethysts that are hidden there by the staff. It's like playing in a big sandbox for the price of 7 Euro per child. The exhibitions are interesting and well done. We went there as a family and spend several hours. It's a very good family trip.

    Interesting
There are two tours. 1, History of the Amethyst and the "Schaustollen". The first part the history is a video and totally forgettable, it is in German and you get a piece of paper with English explanations. It is dark in the room so you can't read it. Even as a german speaker it is difficult as there is no warning which show window is going to be illuminated. The second half is interesting as you are shown the non working mine with the Amethyst bands. 2, "Edelsteinhaus" If you are interested in Gemstones than this is for you. You can stay behind and look again at the different stones after the tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and I loved it. After the first tour (the history) I was ready to leave as I was so disappointed but the "Edelsteinhaus" made me stay.
