Saltos del Petrohue, Los Lagos Region, Chile

4.5 (4.741 reviews) Saturday: 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Ranking #5 in Puerto Varas Waterfalls

Wow - this is worth a stop

Really impressive! Great views of falls/rapids in a beautifully coloured river with forest and volcano backdrop. 3 seperate trails to viewpoints, really good photo access right up close to the water. Significant new infrastruction to upgrade the pathways and bridge, you feel very secure. Each trail is fairly short for walkers of all ages. Each one takes between 10 and 30 minutes. Also, we had a nice bite of lunch at the restaurant located where the 3 trails split off.

Beautiful little walk accessible to the whole family - babies and grandparents too
Very easy 5 minute stroll accessible to all ages over spectacular turquoise waterfalls. You will not believe the color. Also a couple of little 30-minute trails (also extremely family-friendly) that take you by the incredible river and through beautiful forests. Not at all challenging, extremely touristed, but jaw-droppingly beautiful. Get here early, the line to get in can be upwards of an hour long during tourist season

Beautiful cascades; easy, very pretty trails
On our visit in Jan 2020, parking cost 1000 pesos and foreigner entrance fee 6000 pesos, so for two of us that totaled about $US20. Trails are very well built and maintained; a good part is wheelchair accessible. The cascades (not really a waterfall) are beautiful; water is crystal clear. Nice side trip if you're doing the round-the-lake drive.
