Museum explaining the city's bi-annual sculpture competition.
We walked 1.5 km N from our Nyat Urban Hotel to begin La Rambla de las Esculturas. This 450 meter path displays many of the winning sculptures of the bi-annual 14-21 July competition. The museum had a video showing how the artists begin with their blocks of stone, wood, or metal and over a heavily watched 7 days, they form it to a work of art. It also displays ~50 donated sculptures inside and many more larger ones outside. We returned to the main plaza via the 7 block Ave Sarmiento where the center strip displays many of these sculptures. From its beginning in 1988, there are now over 500 of these around this city, and since 1997, this event is supported by UNESCO.

Interesting City of Sculptures
The Museum is only a small collection of the hundreds of sculptures that can be found in Resistencia, but it is a great place to start. It would be much more interesting to visit during the annual sculpture competition instead of only seeing the finished products. The museum itself has a map of the grounds in both English and Spanish, and all the statues I saw at the museum and around town also had a little plaque with the artist, sometimes the country of the artist, and the title of the sculpture. The museum would be greatly enhanced with video or pictures of the annual sculpture competitions that resulted in the sculptures. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Resistencia.

Worth a visit
This museum was a good introduction to Resistencia, Argentina's capital of sculptures. We actually enjoyed the sculptures on display here more than most of the ones around the streets of the city, although it was nice to walk around having a look at those too. The museum has a few sculptures inside, and lots around the grounds. There wasn't that much information though, other than a (very cheesy!) video. Also some of the sculptures were missing their labelling plaque. The staff provided us with a city map marking where all the sculptures are, which was helpful.
