Beautiful church with unique feel - a must see!
This majestic church had a much different vibe than many of the other amazing churches I’ve visited. Absolutely stunning interior with many painted wood sculptures. The dim lighting gave it a more calm, yet serious feel to it. I would highly recommend visiting and lighting a candle or sitting in the pews and taking in the full experience. I loved the visit!

Highlight of Maastricht
Maastricht has two wonderful Romanesque basilica's. I'd be hard pressed to pick a favourite based on external appearance alone, but the Basilica of Our Lady wins out as it's interior is the more interesting of the two. I've never seen a church with a west front quite like the Basilica of Our Lady; a vast stone cliff like edifice flanked by two slim barrel towers. Upon entering, though a later gothic portal, you first encounter the stunning statue of Our Lady Star of the Sea. Moving into the church proper you find it to be poorly lit, which certainly gives it atmosphere. However there is enough light to appreciate what a lovely building this is. Dropping 50 cents into the meter to light the sanctuary and apse is essential, and the stained glass is also noteworthy throughout. On the exterior you will find Romanesque capitals. Sadly when I visited the cloister appeared to be inaccessible.

Lovely church
It was nice to drop in, have a little look and remember loves ones. I liked that they offer a nice prayer in English, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. I recommend a quick visit.
