Nice Castle, expensive entrance
We visited here after a nice walk along the boardwalk. Entrance fee was €4.50 each which was quite steep considering the place is very small. The staff weren’t exactly friendly when we arrived which put us off a bit but as we were already there we decided to not pay them any mind. It was a hot day but inside was even hotter. They have 1 small fan upstairs for slight relief but it doesn’t make much difference. The castle is split on levels and there are some narrow abs uneven steps so I’m not sure it’s accessible friendly throughout. There are steps to the rooftop which has a lovely view across Limassol and great for taking some pictures.

Limassol Castle
We were hugely fortunate to have an opportunity to see this castle on 3/4/2020 before Covid-19 virus contagion exploded worldwide and foreign tourism shut down. Castle was rebuilt on top of another with the walls strengthen to resist invaders. Also legend has that Richard the Lionheart on way to the Holy Land crowned his wife to be the Queen of England here. There were exhibits of Medieval potteries, tombstones and cannons. There was a neat display of an olive oil press on the castle grounds.

Interesting fort and museum
The castle is more of a fort, the medieval building largely replaced. It’s right in the middle of Limassol and well sign posted with lots of cafes in the area. The building is now a medieval museum with some suits of armour and relics from other places. It quite fun to explore but unfortunately at the time of my visit the roof wasn’t accessible. (Also note the photo it trip advisor shows Kolossi castle which is a better preserved castle on the out skirts of Limassol)
