Amazing!
Nicknamed the "Wedding Cake" or "typewriter" for its unusual shape, the majestic Vittoriano monument in Piazza Venezia is dedicated to Italy's first king.

Amazing!
We didn’t see this on any of the main ‘to do’ lists of Rome but think it should be! The building is free to enter, but for €15 per adult (some discounted options too) you can go in to the museum and lift to the top of the building. Out of everywhere we went, this was by far the best view looking out over Rome and seeing all the different sites in the distance.

What a view from the top
Just near the ancient forum this is a really spectacular building. You can walk up the steps outside and enjoy the view from the mid level for free. You can buy a ticket to visit the observation deck right on top of the monument which is accessed by a glass elevator - walk up the front steps and follow the route to the back of the building where there is a ticket office just past the lift. There is also a small museum inside (included in the ticket).
