Viewpoint on the border of Tornio Finland and Haparanda Sweden
Old Tornio water tower is great place to visit and see Tornio and Haparanda border area in one visit. You will see also the great Tornionjoki (River Torne) very well from the tower. Tickets to tower are very cheap. Unfortunately tower is open only in summer time. There is possible to buy some soft drinks, ice creams, etc.

Time zone difference
We crossed from quaint Lapland into modern Sweden. Talk about a time zone difference...it was about 30 years!!! Lapland tickets and timetable were paper based with a bus driver that liked like Postman Pat. We even got left on the bus in the middle of a field for five minutes to swap driver. Haparanda welcomed us back to the 21st century. Electronic boards and comfortable modern conveniences. Despite this I liked the nostalgic side of Lapland!!
