Was it always this serene and peaceful?
Our family group travelled by snowmobile to this spot, from Kilpisjarvi. Light snow was falling for the entire trip, which reduced vivibility, especially of the fjells. But it was beautful, peaceful and we were able to learn something of the history of the place. Thoroughly recommended if you have the chance.

One kind of a "must see"
Easy to reach by a boat from Kilpisjärvi village. Add 3 km walk to the border point and you get to see nice views of the nature reserve area and the lakes. Something unique in many perspectives, but 15 mins at the border point is enough. If you wish to return by boat, the whole trip takes 3 hours, but if the weather is fine, a hiking trip through the reserve area is highly recommended. That option takes about 6 hours.
