Ruijanpolku Trail, Lapland, Finland
4.5 (7 reviews) Spent More than 3 hours Ranking #4 in Saariselka Hiking Trails
Great snow shoe route
Today we took the 5 euro ski bus from Saariselka to Kiilopaa. Beautiful bus journey through a winter wonderland. Bus dropped us right by the start of the Ruijanpolku Trail where there are several information boards giving details of winter walking, snow shoe and cross country ski routes. You can hire equipment from the hotel next to the trail, there is also a campsite and hostel. We decided to walk the 7.5 km snow shoe route up to the top of the fell at 500 plus meters, hardwork in the snow but the views from the top are definitely worth it. We followed a clear marked route all the way back to the fell hotel and then enjoyed the smoke sauna and a dip in the ice plunge pool a fantastic day out.

Historical route from Vuotso to arctic sea
We started from Kiilopää and ended at Laanila. It was easy enough to go with baby in carrier backpack. Well marked historical route through wilderness.
