Free exhibitions and the starting point of wonderful hiking trails
Pallastunturi Visitor Centre is open round the year (but during low season only on weekdays). It offers free exhibitions, wifi (WLAN) and lots of information about northern nature and Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. You can also buy fishing permits and hiking maps there. Many interesting hiking trails begin from the visitor center, e.g. Vatikuru Nature Trail (3 kilometers) and Taivaskeronkierros Trail (4.5 kilometers to the top of Taivaskero Fell and then back, together 9 kilometers). Taivaskeronkierros Trail offers extremely beautiful views from the highest fell (809 meters above sea level) of the area. The last 700 meters to the top are very rocky and there may be high wind there. There are good toilets in the visitor center but unfortunately they haven't any cafeteria. Luckily they sell lemonade and chocolate at the information desk. Lapland Hotel Pallas with a restaurant is situated next door but the hotel isn't open during low season. The visitor center is achievable with a wheelchair, too.

Start your journey from here
The visitor centre is probably a good place when you come for the first time to this area as you will find many information about the park and the trails in this place. It can get very busy here and parking space is limited so you might have to park you car in the parking lot a mile down the road
