Nice place and worth of visiting
Visite the place in a hot day in June. After walking 2.5km from Ukko Luosto parking area, we were at cafe area where tickets (22€) could be bought...and some fresh donuts and coffee/soda could be purchased. The tours are staring at every hour between 11am-5pm, so you need to be there on time. Our guide was a young gentleman Olle. He was very knowable on different amethysts and guided us through the creation process all the way to actual mining. The mine is in open air, so uf you expect to walk into a cool mine tunnel, you will ve disappointed. I personally liked the tour a lot and naturally found a small amethyst. If you are not lucky to find your own, you may buy some from the store.

Searching for a treasure
During the summer and autumn you must take a 5km forrest walk to the mine from the Luosto centre. Mine tour takes one hour and professional guide tells you interesting stories of the stones and the history of the place. The best part is when you can dig your own amethyst with the pickaxe. We found the big one and were very happy with our treasure trip.
