Tombs of ancient war animals.

This site contains 2 capsule shape stupas. According to the legend, the front stupa belongs to Chamadevi's war elephant, while the back stupa (one with the broken top) belongs to her war horse. There's also a statue of this green tusk war elephant. It is believed that by walking through the elephant (under his belly) will bring some good luck and ward off all bad luck.

this is a historic site in a quiet residential area. I was pleasantly surprised by the site. There were English translations to aid my understanding. There are a couple stupas with an interesting legend. There is a park suitable for a pleasant walk.

    honoring ancient animals
Lamphun’s cult of its founder Queen Chamathewi extends to her favorite animals, which are honored with brick chedis in this quiet little park on the northeast side of town. The taller chedi, cylindrical with a blunt top, houses the tusks and ashes of her war elephant. Named Blackie-Purple after the color of its skin, it had green tusks and whenever it pointed them at the enemy, that enemy fell dead. It died defending the city from a Lawa attack. The smaller, bell-shaped chedi houses the remains of Chamathewi’s faithful horse. Local devotees still come here daily to make offerings at the two chedis and to leave small statues of horses and elephants at the back of the compound. The chedi shapes differ from ordinary Thai chedis and this is the only worship grounds in Thailand dedicated to ancient historical animals.
