Surprisingly good!

The Sican Museum is the result of three decades of scientific investigation in the Pomac Forest Historic Sanctuary (Ferreñafe, Lambayeque – Perú).The mission of the Museum is to investigate, conserve, explain, and disseminate the Sicán cultural patrimony of the Province of Ferreñafe. We work to rebuild and strengthen the ancestral native multicultural identity and foster greater community esteem and reassert cultural identity. We also create the foundations for cultural management with rural sustainable development programs within Province of Ferreñafe. The museum exhibits archaeological objects that come from scientific excavations, explains the diverse cultural characteristics of the Sicán that developed in the Lambayeque region.

    Surprisingly good!
My wife and I visited this museum with a guide. We really enjoyed it. Very educational with some great artifacts. Well worth our time. If you have the time, I would combine this visit with the Sipán Royal Tombs Museum and the Túcume Archeological Complex.

    Do not miss this museum...
This is a very nice compact modern museum dedicated to the Sican civilization. It has a marvelous display of finds from two noblemen tombs discovered at Batan Grande. Beautiful pieces jewelry, breast plates, masks and headdresses in gold and copper. Especially interesting was the depiction of the tombs, the occupants and the contents. Also interesting was the information that the noblemen used a red face powder to show status, yet which contained lethal mercury. All the exhibits very well laid out. A very nice gem in Ferrenaffe. All the signage is is Spanish -- I had a guide. Well worth a visit.
