Small but interesting

This has a big collection of dolls and metal toys. It's very small but if you're in the area with a look. Most of the toys are from 1960 or earlier, and they have a few really really old things from the local archeological sites.

    Friendly, but "ok"
First off, I need to say that I've been to other toy museums and they are not really different (shout out to toy museum owners: re-think your purpose and mission, please). The individual who opens the door and explains what the museum is about is such a sweetheart, and that is the best part of the museum (to me). Suggestions for the museum: It needs a revamp and really really think deeply on its curation (a museum should not be just a collection--almost hoarding--of artifacts). I understand the owners almost have this museum as a home for old toys, but it can be a better home. Please clean and present the toys better. It was eerie at times and some of the toys were just cary looking. It was good to spend 30 minutes doing something else than just strolling the beautiful historical centre of Trujillo. Would I do it if I were a visitor for the first time in this city? I would say yes, just to have my own impressions and maybe find a gem or two that reminded me of my childhood (they had on display part of a porcelain tea set that I received for my 9th birthday, and that was sweet).

    Interesting but decaying
Somewhat disappointing. The place appears to have seen its better days, just like some of the toys. The exhibits are somewhat haphazard and those not in display cases are dusty. The dolls are somewhat gruesome in their decay. On the other hand, the collection of old lead toy soldiers is very impressive. Worth a stop but don't expect too much.
