More than a museum, ChocoMuseo is also an artisanal chocolate factory where we make our own chocolate from the beans to the bars with selected Dominican organic cacao. The visit of the chocolate factory and museum is totally free and we offer a free tour to teach you about the history of cacao and chocolate, the cacao tree in the nature and how cacao is transformed into chocolate. It is also a place where our visitors can participate into chocolate workshops where they have the possibility to elaborate their own chocolate from the cacao beans. You can choose the type of the workshop to participate. The workshop "FROM COCOA BEAN TO CHOCOLATE BAR" lasts 2 hours. Participant will find how to prepare handmade chocolate and learn all the steps from the harvest of the cacao in a plantation to the obtention of a chocolate bar. From the cacao beans you will roast them, peel them, and grind them into a paste. This cacao paste is used to prepare the first known cacao drink (invented by the Mayas), the traditional chocolate. In the end, from refined chocolate you will prepare your own chocolate bonbons with topping on your taste that you can take back home. Mini-workshop "UNIQUE CHOCOLATE BONBONS", 35 minutes. During this mini-workshop you will prepare the set of super chocolate bonbons using white, black and milk chocolate. Different molds and different toppings will help to create a set of unique handmade organic chocolate bonbons. Book the time of your workshop by phone or via our web-site.

    "Amazing staff, Best products, & awesome taste testing items"!!
    This was one of the most AWESOME trip I have went on, part of my souvenir tour stop was this shop which was the most BEST place I loved. I purchase some lotion for me daughter back home and she loved it so much and it worked so good on her skin that I went and order (TWICE) from them and the service is awesome with working over the computer.... Thank you staff of Choco !!!!!!

    great for foodie types!
    Went today with my 11 year old son--both of us love to cook and try new foods. We both agreed that our 2 hour lesson was the highlight of our 5 day trip here. What a great time we had with Francisco Alberto as our instructor. They picked us up at our hotel, we took raw cocoa beans and made all kinds of great treats. They gave my son an extra special treat. And, we did buy some stuff though it wasn't too pricey. Didn't have time to check out the rum or cigar shop but the coffee place was good too. Very cool. It was $35/epice
