Swimming with sun and moon jellyfish in Palau

The jellyfish lake is about 10-15 minutes walk from the boat ramp, up and down a steep hill with steps and rope to hold on. I did it using my crocs closed toe sandal with backstrap. it was a lot of fun swimming with sun and moon jellyfish. You need to hike with your snorkeling gear and any camera equipment so a mesh bag is a good idea. Our group spent 1.5 hours on the lake. We must use eco friendly sunblock that is not harmful for the jellyfish.

A once in a lifetime experience
If the thought of snorkeling amidst thousands of jellyfish grosses you out, this place is not for you. However if the idea of snorkeling amongst countless jellyfish that have lost their ability to sting appeals to you by all means visit jellyfish lake. There is a very high government fee to visit the Lake but it is well worth it if you can afford to pay. There is a short but very steep hike up and down a staircase to reach Jellyfish Lake.

    Unreal Experience
Before I start my review I recommend doing a private tour by Captain John (680) 778-7333. He ended up being cheaper than the tours. We found him through the Palau Visitors Bureau and i'm sad we didn't know him before we spent a bunch of money doing a day tour with a bunch of other people. He took us early to the lake and we were THE ONLY ONES THERE!! It was amazing to see it so quiet and not flooded with people. Anyways.... When you arrive to the island you have to wash off with freshwater and there is a small hike uphill to get to the lake. When you get to the lake depending on the time of day you have to swim to them, they arent just there (not complaining just stating). So we swam to the other side of the lake and they were. The first time when we went with a tour company there were a bunch of people with us and also other tour groups going in and out of the lake so it was cool to see but lots of traffic. Again, I recommend going on a private boat so you can really take your time.
