National Museum of Namibia, Khomas Region, Namibia

3.5 (554 reviews) Spent Ranking #8 in Windhoek Speciality Museums

Worth the effort

Worth a visit as it contains over 3 floors the history of Namibia. The building is very modern and worth a visit on its own. Very quiet when we visited and it’s free! The 4th floor has a restaurant/ cafe for a nice drink whilst the balconies give a great view out over Windhoek.

A bit odd but worth a visit
While there is a lot of socialist kitsch, minor errors in the descriptions and an odd way of curating the lot it was still very informative. Naturally the view is one-sided, concentrating on SWAPO and the role it plaid for independence. Still worth a visit if you are interested in the history of a very interesting country!

    Best liberation museum
I personally believe this is the best museum to head to when one wants to understand the history of the liberation struggle of Namibia, very informative.
